Documentary Facts as Propaganda

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

“Objective documentary photography doesn’t exist.
The photographer who claims he approaches his subject objectively is naive. There is
always a political, personal or commercial interest.

There’s a thin line between documentary photography and propaganda.
In this workshop we will look for the power of the visual language of
propaganda-photography. What is the relationship between Martin Parr and Rodchenko?
When we visit places we will make a clear choice; positive or negative. We will
photograph our subject according to this choice using the techniques of propaganda.”
