The School of Photography welcomed Cristelle Rochette with her seminar “Photography as an Object of Collecting”. The vice-head keeper of collections of Nicephore Niepce museum spoke about the museum, its history and collections, the museum’s objectives, as well as modern tendencies in museum development in France.

JULY 2009
The Photopracticum will be held on July 1 - July 8 in Minsk and will be framed in the project of International School of Visual Communication.
During the practicum the participants and the supervisors of the working groups will find themselves under special conditions of Byelorussian visual environment, where they will create new space of communication, and to interact within it they will make use of photographic communication elements – “Visual Documents”.

The annual theme contest “Time Archive” has been declared open to accept series of photographs and photographic projects to participate. The theme for year 2009 is social-documentary photography.

The project “School of Photography” is developing a new direction, that of a wedding photography school. There has been worked out a unique program of module education and training for photographers aiming at successful work at different stages of their development in the wedding photography business.

A widely –known Moscow photographer-documentarian Igor Moukhin has come to Minsk to hold a seminar. Among the main topics discussed at the seminar were genre photography, street-photography, genre specifics, and street-photography as documentation.

Library of the Center of Photography

The Center of Photography has opened free access to the reading hall of its library. All comers could get familiar with the libraries fund encompassing over 100 publications: photographic albums, exhibition catalogues, cards, books on the history and technology of photography, essays by famous photographers. The library’s fund gets enlarged weekly.

“The School of Photography” hosted a seminar of Jens Lasthein titled “White Sea Black Sea". The author introduced his photographic projects and spoke on the specifics of working on a thematic project and a photographic book. The seminar was held with support of the Embassy of Sweden in the Republic of Belarus and the Swedish Institute.
