Days of Belarusian-Swedish Photography in Vitebsk

The Embassy of Sweden and the Center of Photography in Minsk supported by the Swedish Institute initiated “The Days of Belarusian-Swedish Photography in Vitebsk” which were held on
February 14–18, 2009.
The days of photography in Vitebsk made actual one of the strategic directions of the Center of Photography, i.e. interaction with the regions, and were the first step on revitalizing the photographic situation in the outlying periphery.
It is noteworthy that the Center of Photography stepped out as a unifying force for its old and new partners, who exhibited in the museums and galleries of Vitebsk such a variety of works. The exhibitions were followed by the round table “Contemporary Belarusian Photography”. The pursued aim was to analyze the situation contemporary Belarusian photography is in, which is an essential condition for coming out of the inactive state of photographic environment.
